[And she'll still be there when he arrives: half-carrying, half-dragging Pagan as carefully as possible.]

[brushoff]

Give me one of his arms, [ Dorian says, slinging one of them over his shoulder to take some weight off of Misty. Dorian is trying very hard to stay calm right now, but there's definitely something in him that is close to outright panic (and visibly close to outright panic) as he sees Pagan's body.

Pause. Take some deep breaths. Don't freak out here, he'll be back in minutes. ]

[Misty is, of course, Totally Fine, which means that she's not fine at all but she's certainly telling herself that she is. After helping Dorian get situated under Pagan's other arm, she reaches out and clumsily pats his elbow.]

Don't worry! It's-- it's totally okay. He'll be right back!

[brushoff]

He will be back, [ Dorian says, more to ground himself than to ground Misty. He'll be back. They'll bring him back to his room, Misty will make the request, Pagan'll pop up in a few minutes.

There's a pause before he admits, ]

Though I've got to say, it's fucking morbid dragging his body around like this.

[citizendetective]

You've done things like this before, right?

[She's done things like this before, for far darker reasons; she can't imagine that Dorian hasn't.]

[brushoff]

What, carried a body? Obviously.

[ Who do you think he is, Misty? ]

It's only been rare occasions that it's a body of someone close to me.

[citizendetective]

[Misty hesitates, then repeats quietly:]

He'll come back. It's seriously no big deal.

[The elevator doors ding open on Level 1.]

[brushoff]

I know that, [ Dorian points out, as he helps drag Pagan out of the elevator. ] But that doesn't mean it can't hurt.

[citizendetective]

Of course it hurts!

[She exhales sharply.]

But we can handle it.

[brushoff]

Of course we can, [ he nods, giving Misty a smile that he hopes is reassuring. ]

After all, it's not like this is the worst thing we've dealt with.

[citizendetective]

Exactly!

[She glances at him over Pagan's head, and her forcibly upbeat tone tempers itself a little.]

Are you-- how are you?

[brushoff]

As fine as I can be, [ Dorian sighs. ] It's been a long week.

[citizendetective]

Has it? Besides this?

[brushoff]

Jon Sims is in a coma, Petronilla shot me full of arrows, Kikimora apparently has a giant robot, and for the first half of this nonsense, my healing went kaput.

Death by a thousand small cuts, as it were.

[citizendetective]

Did Petronilla attack you before or after you got your healing back?

[brushoff]

Before.

I had some lovely little open wounds for a few hours as they healed up.
