If you think I’m pleased about his death, I’m not. But that isn’t really the point.

If I think I can’t help an Inmate or see that interactions between us would only go poorly, I engage as little as possible, if ever at all.

I don’t make an ass of myself pretending I want to be helpful and then do the exact opposite.

So you can deflect all you like, but I’m not making anyone else’s job harder. Or actively sabotaging Inmates’ chances at graduating - even the ones I dislike - just to satisfy my pettiness.

I have fucked up, actually. But only the people directly involved or those I trust with my life will ever know about those fuck ups.

I’m not a saint, either. I am a tired old man sick of people taking a shit on my lawn.

In that case? You picked the wrong job. Not just because of me, but because of the fact that we're a ship full of problem children on both sides, faced with potential trauma like clockwork. The Barge's existence is antithetical to the idea of fresh, clean grass with no interruptions and no problems.
